Production SupervisorPosition Overview
The Production Supervisor manages a team of production workers, coordinates daily manufacturing activities, and implements strategies to optimize productivity, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of production operations, and experience working with slitting equipment, preferably in a metal processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of production workers, including training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure production goals, efficiencies, and throughput expectations are consistently met.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and high morale.
- Ensure all production processes comply with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Monitor production operations to maximize efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Oversee quality control procedures to ensure products meet or exceed customer and company quality standards.
- Address quality concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Supervise and support slitting operations, ensuring equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
- Troubleshoot production and equipment issues, particularly those related to slitting machinery and material processing.
- Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained and serviced through preventative maintenance programs.
- Communicate production status, concerns, and performance metrics to management regularly.
- Assist in managing packaging materials inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and organization.
- Assist with bi-annual plant inventories.
- Maintain a safe work environment by proactively identifying and correcting hazards, enforcing safety standards, ensuring proper training and communication, and promoting a culture of safety through leadership and continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with production management software and manufacturing systems.
- Solid understanding of production processes, quality control, and workplace safety standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience supervising manufacturing, processing, or production operations.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, or supervising slitting equipment required.
- Metal slitting machine experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of coil processing, sheet metal manufacturing, or related metal fabrication operations is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and quality specifications.
