Assembler – Atomic Force Microscopes (Part-Time → Full-Time)

About the Role
We are a small company building precision Atomic Force Microscopes (AFMs) used in advanced scientific research. We are looking for a hands-on Assembler to help build, assemble, and support the production of high-precision instrumentation.
This role starts part-time during training and ramps into full-time as you become comfortable with the systems and workflow.
You do not need prior AFM experience—we will train the right person with strong mechanical aptitude, patience, and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble precision mechanical and electromechanical components
- Follow detailed build procedures and assembly documentation
- Handle small, delicate parts with care and consistency
- Assist in testing, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain organized workstations and production tracking notes
- Support continuous improvement of assembly processes
- Work closely with engineers and technical staff in a small team environment
What We’re Looking For
Must-have qualities:
- Strong attention to detail and patience with precision work
- Comfortable working with hands, tools, and small components
- Reliable, consistent, and able to follow procedures carefully
- Willingness to learn technical assembly processes
- Good communication and willingness to ask questions
Helpful (but not required):
- Experience in mechanical assembly, electronics, lab equipment, or manufacturing
- Familiarity with tools like torque drivers, microscopes, or precision instruments
- Basic understanding of electronics or mechanical systems
