Position Description
The Workforce Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing professional development advising on the CDA credential and higher education (Higher Ed) options for the Minnesota Early Childhood Workforce. This position reports to the Director of Workforce and Professional Development and works closely with the Professional Development Systems Coordinator and the Empower to Educate Team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide CDA consultation, technical assistance, and support to statewide advisors.
- Support Professional Development staff on advising around the Child Development Associate(CDA)/Higher Ed and additional workforce pathways
- Implement a model for advising early childhood educators
- Provide Advisors training and technical assistance to increase their knowledge of the CDA process including but not limited to: CDA course options, portfolio development, exam and observation procedures, CDA renewals, and CDA financial supports
- Identify needs in workforce development and actively problem-solve
- Provide guidance to center directors and educators in supporting individuals’ understanding of the CDA and Higher Ed options in obtaining professional growth
- Provide clarity in the systems coordination between Financial Supports, Higher Ed, CDA, and state regulation
Provide advising on credentials, higher education, and career options.
- Offer support to educators joining the field, this may include: phone calls, emails, and webinars, group facilitation, and one-on-one advising
- Collaborate with the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Department of Children Youth and Families to create and implement CDA initiatives
- Collaborate with the state agencies, community-based organizations, and institutions of Higher Education to promote career and credentials pathways in child development and early childhood education, especially those serving underserved and underrepresented communities
- Utilize available data to make improvements to the program services and support candidates' changing needs
- Maintain a partnership with the Council for Professional Recognition
- Provide advising support to potential MNCDA and Spanish MNCDA participants
- Work closely with Institutes of Higher Education in relation to CDA articulation
- Refer programs who offer non-approved CDA coursework to Achieve-MNCPD for support getting trainings approved in the Develop system
Coordinate Minnesota Child Development Associate (MNCDA) and Spanish MNCDA recruitment and retention of particpants, coordinate MNCDA/SPMNCDA resource allocation.
- Coordinate MNCDA and SPMNCDA module recruitment, contract MNCDA Consultants, and collaborate on marketing strategies for future registrations with internal teams
- Assist with registrations and maintain waiting lists for modules in both English and Spanish
- Collaborate with programs that pay for participant registration costs throughout the state to provide access to educators
- Coordinate resource allocation for educators such as CDA Competency Standards books, portfolio organizers, flashcards, and consultants
- Coordinate and lead meetings for MNCDA Consultants, advisors, and other interested parties as needed
Support the organization’s mission, vision, strategic plan and anti-racism goals by participating in activities and professional development opportunities.
- Participate in staff meetings, workgroups, or task forces to assist with achieving the organization’s goals
- Assist CCA with implementing the organization's strategic plans by embedding the goals into everyday work
- Participate in professional development activities to strengthen your understanding and skills around diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Child Development or related field and related experience
- Knowledge of, or experience with cultural diversity issues and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
- Demonstrated ability to be inclusive of and honor existing care and education professionals across settings, that respects and understands the background cultures and languages of the system
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in educational advising
- Strong knowledge of the CDA and Higher Ed
- Ability to engage, learn, and develop diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism skills and principles into your work
- Currently be a Develop approved trainer and course writer, or hold the credentials to become approved
- Currently an RBPD Specialist or willing to become certified

Compensation: $47,617-$51,251 annually, depending on qualifications, plus up to an additional $2,000/year for lifestyle expenses
