POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a skilled Porter and/or Maintenance Technician. Must have experience working in an apartment community and strong communication and follow-up skills, both with residents and other team members. Self-starter, work well with a team, take initiative as well as ability to take direction from others. If you are great with your hands, experienced in building maintenance or custodial responsibilities and are committed to the task at hand this position will offer career advancement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to move from property to property in any given day to perform tasks in various locations
- Assisting with performing unit turns and unit rehabs. Duties include replacing outlet cover plates, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, closet doors, and basic unit repairs.
- Move boxes, supplies, furniture, and equipment, within building and to off-site locations.
- Availability for on-call responsibility for after-hours emergencies required.
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work area.
- Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
- Demonstrating customer services skills by treating residents and others with respect, responding sensitively to complaints about maintenance services and cleanliness of the community.
- Ad-hoc assignments as needed.
- Maintain professionalism at all times with co-workers, residents and vendors.
- Maintain company standards with respect to cleanliness, community appearance and customer service.
- Develop and maintain a high level of skill and an eye for detail in all maintenance activities.
- Perform general maintenance as directed including: plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, hazardous material abatement, apartment turn-over, and appliance repairs in accordance with company standards, and in conjunction with management staff.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Speaks Spanish
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- High sense of urgency while maintaining high quality standards.
- Three to five years of maintenance facilities, and/or handy-man experience.
- Trade certifications are a plus.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must have basic set of hand tools and reliable transportation with a personal vehicle.
- Driver's License, Pre-employment background check, DMV record search and drug screening required.
- Ability to take direction from supervisor and complete tasks on time and in an efficient manner.
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Possess basic computer skills. Knowledge of Mac is a plus.
- Must be proficient in use of a smart phone.
- Renovation and janitorial experience a plus.
- Experience with AppFolio Property Manager is a plus.
COMPENSATION
- Full time salary
- 401k
- Additional part-time hourly compensation is paid on a bi-weekly basis through payroll.
- Reimbursement for mileage based on actual mileage and State of CA reimbursement guidelines
- Use of company issued laptop computer
- Use of company issued internet enabled cellular phone or reimbursement for use of personal internet enabled cellular phone
- All supplies are provided by management
