Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled prep cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the creation of delicious and nutritious meals. Prior experience in dietary departments, food service, or restaurant settings is highly valued. The Prep Cook will play a vital role in supporting kitchen operations, ensuring that all food items are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This position will be a fill in for our current staff, so hours will be varied.
Duties
- Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients using proper knife skills
- Prepare ingredients according to menu specifications and dietary guidelines
- Support cooking activities by following recipes and portioning ingredients accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety protocols
- Assist with menu planning and ingredient inventory management
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage and handling procedures are followed
- Support catering events or special meal preparations as needed
- Ensure all food handling practices meet health and safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and high-quality meal presentation
- Short order cook, deep fryer experience and banquet food preparation is a requirement of this position
- Working with various vendors by ordering food supplies, kitchen supplies, paper goods, bar supplies, etc
- Other duties as needed
Experience
- Previous experience in food industry roles such as dietary aide, restaurant cook, or catering assistant is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and food safety regulations is advantageous
- Skills in food handling, cooking, and meal preparation are essential
- Experience with culinary tasks such as knife skills and food presentation is desirable
- Familiarity with dietary department procedures or serving in a healthcare or institutional setting is a plus
- Prior kitchen experience demonstrating reliability and teamwork will be highly regarded
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
