Columbia Crest Montessori is hiring Assistant Preschool Teachers to join our Kenmore or Lake Stevens campuses for the current school year.
Job Summary
As an Assistant Preschool Teacher, you will work hand-in-hand with the Lead Montessori Teacher to cultivate a peaceful, orderly, and joyful classroom. Your primary role is to support the children’s independence, assist in managing classroom flow, maintain environmental order, and ensure a safe, nurturing space. This is an excellent opportunity for someone loving early childhood education or looking to grow their career in a Montessori setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support: Partner with the Lead Teacher to assist children during work cycles, ensuring they are engaged, focused, and supported in their independent choices.
- Environmental Care: Help prepare and maintain the classroom environment daily, ensuring Montessori materials are clean, complete, organized, and inviting.
- Supervision & Safety: Actively supervise children across all settings—including the classroom, playground, and transitions—prioritizing emotional and physical safety.
- Independence Cultivation: Guide children gently in developing practical life skills, self-care habits (such as handwashing, bathroom use, and putting away materials), and peaceful conflict resolution.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain open, supportive communication with the Lead Teacher and Administration regarding classroom needs and child observations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience working with young children (ages 2.5 to 6 years) in a licensed childcare, preschool, or Montessori environment is highly preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (CDA or ECE coursework is a major plus).
- Current MERIT account with completed portable background check (or willing to obtain upon hire).
- Up-to-date TB test, CPR/First Aid certification, and Food Handler’s Permit (or willingness to complete within the first 30 days).
- A calm, patient demeanor; strong communication skills; reliability; and a genuine love for working with young children.
