Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced automotive service team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact between our customers and the service department, ensuring a seamless and positive experience from initial vehicle intake to completion of repairs. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication skills will help you accurately assess customer needs, prepare detailed estimates using estimating software, all while delivering outstanding customer service.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Prepare detailed repair estimates using auto estimating software, clearly explaining necessary repairs and recommended services
- Communicate effectively with customers about their vehicle’s condition, options for repairs while providing exceptional customer service
- Coordinate with technicians and parts departments to ensure timely completion of repairs and accurate documentation of work performed
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper records of all service write-ups and client interactions
Requirements
- No experience necessary. We will train. Pay will depend on experience.
- Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in automotive diagnostics, transmissions, oil changes, tire service, suspension work, brake repair, shocks & struts, air brakes, and other automotive systems
- Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed
- Customer service-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining professionalism during high-volume periods
