Special-Lite is seeking a Product Design Detailer to join our Sales Operations team in Decatur, MI. This individual is responsible for creating shop sheets and drawings to ensure our production team builds doors and frames according to order specifications. This individual works closely with our customers and production team members to ensure product accuracy and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented and is precise, organized, patient, observant, and analytical, with the ability to focus deeply on tasks and manage time effectively. The ideal candidate is good at math, enjoys learning and problem solving and works well under pressure with a high sense of urgency.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Creates work orders for the production team using drawings and order forms supplied by customers.
- Works with customers to provide them with the correct product for their application.
- Reads and translates hardware templates.
- Modifies, copies, and stores documents using software and hardware.
- Communicates with internal and external customers via email, phone and in-person.

Position Requirements:
- High school diploma/ GED or equivalent education and experience.
- The ability to perform basic algebra.
- The ability to learn specialized software.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team with internal and external customers.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects with minor variations, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use phones, copiers, and scanners (office machines).
- Ability to use or knowledge of measuring devices ruler, tape measure, micrometer, caliper.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and respond to changing business demands.
- Familiarity with construction division 8 products and terminology is a plus.
Primary Physical Requirements:
- Works in a traditional office environment.
- Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate office equipment, and reach with hands and arms.
- Required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
- Required to occasionally stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 20lbs
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required Safety Equipment:
- Safety glasses are always required on the production floor.
- Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
