Duties
- Conduct engaging and informative driving lessons tailored to individual skill levels, covering standard passenger cars, commercial trucks, buses, and specialty vehicles like limousines or heavy equipment.
- Teach students proper vehicle operation including manual transmission handling, forklift operation, pallet jacks, and heavy haul procedures.
- Demonstrate safe driving techniques in various environments such as over-the-road routes, urban traffic, adverse weather conditions, and shuttle services.
- Ensure adherence to all traffic laws and safety protocols including air brake systems, tanker operations, and fleet GPS tracking compliance.
- Guide learners through load & unload procedures, heavy lifting safety practices, and mechanical knowledge relevant to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Monitor progress using mobile devices and communication skills to provide constructive feedback; maintain detailed records of lessons and student performance.
- Promote safety by emphasizing proper use of safety equipment like tow trucks, dump trucks, flatbeds, pallet jacks, and yard jockeys during practical training sessions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial vehicle operation such as tractor-trailers, box trucks, school buses, or paratransit vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of GPS navigation systems, route driving strategies, and adherence to traffic regulations across diverse environments.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including forklifts, dump trucks, heavy haul vehicles, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct diverse learners effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and demonstrate safe lifting practices; comfortable working with mobile devices for record keeping.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with delivery driver roles or shuttle driving is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to air brake systems, tanker operations, fleet tracking technology, and adverse weather driving conditions.
