About the Position:
Cottonwood is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team to provide essential 1:1 support and companionship to a young lady living at home. The ideal candidate is someone who is energetic, reliable, and fun-loving. This is a great opportunity for students interested in special education, psychology, social work, or the medical field!
NOTE: Because this position requires providing assistance with intimate personal care such as toileting, bathing, and dressing to a female individual, we are only able to hire FEMALE staff.
About the Individual:
The individual we're hiring for is a young woman in her 40s . She enjoys spending time with her parents, playing on the computer, listening to music, and being around her support staff. She also enjoys running errands, swimming, and bowling.
Shift:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am-6:00pm (times can be flexible based on staff and the individual's schedule or planned activities)
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with ADLs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, transfers/mobility needs, and medication administration.
- Provide transportation as needed.
- Plan and carry out a variety of meaningful recreational activities to advance social development and community integration. Activities may include outings to the park, rec centers, museums, or shopping.
- Foster positive relationships through engaging activities and social interaction both in the individual's home and the community.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of individual's information.
- Document individual goals and medical tracking electronically.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working with IDD individuals, particularly with high needs - familiarity with positive behavior supports is preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to transfer and assist individual as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
- Mature & dependable individual; minimum age of 21.
- Must meet background and reference requirements.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Clean Driving Record. No suspensions & less than three tickets in three years.
- Computer/smart phone skills sufficient to complete required documentation.
