Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support licensed physical therapists in providing high-quality patient care in a home setting. This role requires a strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to assist in developing and implementing effective care plans for diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, orthopedics, and those recovering from acute or chronic conditions.
Duties
- Assist physical therapists in evaluating patient needs and implementing treatment plans tailored to individual conditions.
- Provide therapeutic interventions such as trigger point therapy, manual therapy, and exercise programs to improve mobility and reduce pain.
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to treatment accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients on exercises, injury prevention, and recovery strategies to promote self-care and optimal outcomes.
- Support discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care and providing home exercise instructions.
- Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment adhering to healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care across inpatient, outpatient, or home health settings.
- Stay current with advancements in physiotherapy techniques and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and various physiotherapy modalities including trigger point therapy.
- Experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments preferred.
- Familiarity with care plans for geriatrics, orthopedics, and patients recovering from acute or chronic conditions.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring quality patient care.
- Prior experience with discharge planning and familiarity with outpatient therapy protocols is advantageous.
