Salary Range: $125-$150/day
Hours per week: Full Time - 35 hours
General Statement: This temporary teaching position for Social Studies intended to provide a foundation in Social Studies acquainting students with the fundamentals of Social Studies practices and the foundation for future study in Social Studies-related fields through engaging, hands-on curriculum, and encouraging the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking and creative/innovative reasoning.
Responsibilities:

Provides rigorous and relevant instruction on pre-approved hands-on curriculum in the content area.

Integrates soft-skill instruction into competency-based content area activities.

Provides evidence of project-based learning.

Maintains a strong instructional focus utilizing the elements of effective instruction.

Communicates a high level of expectation to students.

Communicates clear learning goals and expectations to students.

Adapts instruction to meet the needs of all students.

Sequences content appropriately.

Embeds school’s student learning objectives in instruction.

Posts course syllabus and appropriate materials on class website.

Maintains and posts accurate and up to date grades.

Uses appropriate level of questioning to promote understanding.

Relates lesson content to prior and future learning.

Addresses various learning styles.

Requires students to analyze and apply knowledge.

Requires Students to summarize information in written and/or verbal form.
- Conducts ongoing assessments for learning.

Collaborates with core content teachers on common course planning, integration and alignment.

Attends all relevant professional development opportunities.

Displays enjoyment, humor, and enthusiasm for teaching and the expectation that students enjoy learning.

Experience:

Knowledge and experience with Social Studies.

Skills in Social Studies to enhance student learning.

Strengths should include human relations, leadership and conflict management.

Teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Certification & Licensing:

Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications.

Authorized to work in the USA
