Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful programs for residents in a senior living or assisted living community. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and implement a diverse range of recreational activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, physical wellness, and overall quality of life. Duties
- Develop and execute innovative activity programs tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and health needs
- Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, outings, celebrations, and therapeutic activities that encourage participation and community bonding
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized engagement and attentive communication
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to ensure safety and comfort
- Assist with Front Desk Duties such as answering calls, taking messages and answering the front door
- Manage scheduling of activities and maintain detailed records of participation and resident feedback
- Collaborate with nursing staff, resident assistants, family members, and community partners to enhance program offerings and address individual resident needs
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments
- Strong background in recreational therapy, caregiving, or working with seniors with disabilities or memory care needs
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, geriatrics, and long-term care practices
- Excellent communication skills to effectively connect with residents, families, and team members
- Proficiency in scheduling, documentation, and program development purposes
- Demonstrated leadership skills in team coordination and program management
- Knowledge of home & community care services and experience working with geriatric patients preferred
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
