Ultrasound Technician - Cardiology - ECHO
Position Summary:
At the direction of a qualified physician, performs a variety of tests requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis of disease. Services the needs of patients in a manner that promotes patient satisfaction, privacy and safety.
Staff member demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of our patients. Staff member is able to identify and categorize each patient’s specific needs. Staff member demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in computer programs necessary to accomplish job functions.
Must be available to work 10 hour shifts.
Primary Functions:
- Performs all testing in accordance with Bay Area Heart Center's protocols.
- Perform echocardiogram w/2D M mode, Doppler and color flow.
- Perform echocardiogram with bubble contrast.
- Enters testing and billing information in EMR and UltraLinq.
- Communicates directly with physicians any urgent/STAT issues noted while performing testing.
- Maintain practice and patient confidentially and protect the physician’s licenses.
- Clean transducer between patients, clean table between each patient, clean and dust machine weekly and as needed.
- Maintain cleaning logs documenting
Secondary Functions:
1) Assist administration with the collection of information for IAC accreditation as needed.
2) Any other duties as directed by any supervisors.

Employee follows guidelines, policies, and procedures as stipulated through the orientation process and as outlined in manuals: Employee Handbook, Clinical Department Manual, HIPAA Regulations, Compliance Program, Bloodborne Pathogens, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Hazardous Materials Management Plan, TB manual, and Bio-Medical Waste Management Plan.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of a formal ultrasonographer program and/or trained on the job. Must have specific certification for each ultrasound testing: Adult cardiac ultrasound and vascular ultrasounds.
Care and consideration of patient privacy and patient satisfactory are of utmost concern.
General Skills:
o Ability to read and understand documents and records.
o Ability to write and prepare documents and reports.
o Ability to understand and perform math computations.
o Ability to learn how to use various office and computer equipment.
