This role focuses on high-precision MIG welding on hard steel materials in a heat-treat welding environment. You will perform mostly pulse-style hardwire .045 welding on heavy structural components ranging from 3/8" to 4" thick, with a strong emphasis on ultra-sonic quality welds that meet stringent X-ray and certification standards. Over time, you will train and certify to weld complex boom components and other parts used in concrete boom trucks, working in a clean, organized, and safety-focused weld shop.
Responsibilities
-
Perform high-quality MIG welding using pulse-style hardwire .045 on heavy gauge hard steel materials ranging from 3/8" to 4" thick.
-
Execute ultra-sonic level welds that meet strict quality requirements and pass X-ray inspection and certification standards.
-
Work within a heat-treat style welding environment, adjusting techniques to accommodate material and process requirements.
-
Set up welding equipment independently, including configuring machines for pulse hardwire MIG welding.
-
Perform your own layouts, including reading and interpreting blueprints to determine weld locations, dimensions, and sequence.
-
Set up and align fixtures and perform fit-ups of heavy structural components prior to welding.
-
Progressively train and become certified to weld all components of booms and other structural parts for concrete boom trucks.
-
Collaborate with fabricators and other welders to ensure accurate assembly and high-quality finished products.

Inspect welds visually and with measuring tools to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
-
Follow established safety procedures in a shop environment with cranes and large machinery in constant operation.
-
Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding job status, issues, and quality concerns.
-
Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the weld shop.
-
Work independently while meeting production goals and quality standards within a team-oriented environment.

Experience with TIG welding in addition to MIG welding.
-
Working in fabrication work, including cutting, fitting, and assembling structural steel components.
-
Familiarity with pulse hardwire welding settings and optimization for different material thicknesses.
-
Experience working in a production weld shop with X-ray inspected and certified welds.
