We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse Outpatient to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Deliver direct patient care in outpatient clinics, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment procedures aligned with clinical standards.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical documentation review to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and state healthcare policies.
- Coordinate discharge planning, follow-up care, and referrals to optimize patient recovery and long-term health management.
- Perform utilization management and review medical records for documentation improvement, ensuring adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on case management activities involving complex patient needs, including those requiring ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience.
- Assist in medical coding processes such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, DRG assignment, and ensure accurate medical documentation for billing purposes.
- Support home care initiatives and hospice care coordination when applicable, emphasizing patient safety and comfort in outpatient settings.
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with Microsoft Office tools is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation standards essential for accurate record keeping.
- Experience with managed care processes including utilization review, case management, and long-term care regulations.
- In-depth understanding of Medicare regulations, CMS policies, HIPAA compliance, and state healthcare regulations affecting outpatient nursing practices.
- Critical care experience in ICU or Level I Trauma Center settings enhances ability to manage complex cases effectively.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding procedures for billing accuracy; knowledge of DRG assignment is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary team collaboration; ability to review medical records thoroughly for documentation improvement.
- Knowledge of discharge planning procedures, hospital experience preferred; familiarity with health information management systems like Meditech or NextGen is beneficial.
