Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with manual transmissions, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized freight vehicles
- Load and unload hazardous materials following strict safety protocols and proper documentation procedures
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checks on brakes, tires, lights, and load securement
- Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including proper handling of Hazmat materials and necessary documentation
- Drive assigned routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and company policies to meet delivery schedules
- Use forklift or other equipment as needed for loading or unloading freight at warehouses or customer sites
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement and clean driving record
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks in a commercial setting
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of route driving and freight handling
- Ability to operate specialized vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is a plus
- Familiarity with load & unload procedures, forklift operation, and safety regulations related to hazardous materials
- Strong driving skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy loads and performing vehicle inspections regularly
