Job Overview
The Seasonal Visitor Experience Assistant plays a key role in delivering exceptional experiences for guests attending LC Nature Park's public programs, donor events, and community gatherings during the busy fall season. This position is responsible for preparing event spaces, welcoming guests, providing on-site event support, and ensuring events run safely and smoothly from setup through cleanup.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in nonprofit events, outdoor recreation, hospitality, or environmental education.
Responsibilities
Event & Program Support
- Assist with setup and teardown of public programs, donor events, fundraisers, and other special events.
- Prepare event spaces by arranging tables, chairs, signage, decorations, audiovisual equipment, and program materials.
- Welcome guests, answer questions, provide directions, and serve as a friendly ambassador for LC Nature Park.
- Serve as the primary on-site staff member during assigned evening and weekend programs, ensuring events operate safely and according to established procedures.
- Monitor event logistics and respond professionally to guest needs or unexpected situations.
- Assist presenters, volunteers, vendors, and caterers as needed throughout events.
- Help maintain clean, organized, and attractive event spaces before, during, and after events.
- Complete opening and closing procedures for facilities and event spaces.
Program Operations
- Assist staff with preparation of materials for educational programs and special events.
- Support registration and guest check-in as needed.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are organized, inventoried, and stored following events.
- Report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to supervisors.
General Responsibilities
- Represent LC Nature Park professionally while providing excellent customer service.
- Support volunteers during programs and special events.
- Follow all park safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support seasonal programming and events.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to handle stressful situations appropriately, maintaining mental, emotional, and social resilience needed for the job in a fast-paced, interactive environment.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Previous experience in events, hospitality, recreation, customer service, or nonprofit organizations preferred but not required.
Physical Aspects of the Job
This position will require bending, stooping, walking long distances across rugged terrain and prolonged standing. This position involves daily exposure to sun, heat, dust, and animals, including wild animals and those maintained at the park.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist guests in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and light rain.
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Bartenders License or ability to obtain
