JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Regal Boats is seeking a detail-oriented Paint Wood Finishing Technician to join our Paint Department. This role is responsible for sanding, staining, sealing, and applying topcoats to high-end wooden components used in the interior and exterior of our boats. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, experience working with fine finishes, and a strong commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
Key Responsibilities

- Prepare wood components by sanding, cleaning, and conditioning surfaces prior to finishing.
- Apply wood stains, sealers, and topcoats (e.g., varnish or polyurethane) using spray guns, brushes, or wiping techniques per Workmanship Instructions (WIs).
- Mix and match stains or topcoats to achieve a consistent color or desired finish.
- Inspect finished pieces for quality, consistency, and defects; rework as necessary to meet Regal's standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized finishing area, including tools, spray booths, and ventilation systems.
- Follow all safety and environmental regulations when handling chemicals and using PPE.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the timely completion of boats according to production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Experience using hand and power tools for sanding and finishing wood surfaces.
- Familiarity with spray equipment and techniques for applying stains, sealers, and finishes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce high-quality work.
- Comfortable working with chemicals and finishes while using required safety equipment.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and color match specifications.
- Conversational English is required for safety and team communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in wood finishing, cabinet finishing, or marine/automotive woodwork.
- Knowledge of grain enhancement techniques and high-gloss or satin finish processes.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents or finish specifications.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature, reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to walk, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
