Green Vale is a joyful school community where every child is known, guided by our core values of community, character, respect, reflection, and resourcefulness.
Position Overview:
Lesson teachers play a vital role in supporting The Green Vale School’s priority that every child is known. They work with students grades 4 - 8 in the band and/or orchestra program in small group lessons 1 day per week teaching small instrument-specific groups. These small group classes for each instrumental section are essential for students to continue building the technical foundations of their instruments while at Green Vale.
In this particular role, we are looking for a teacher to work with our low brass students (trombone/baritone/tuba) in grades 4 - 7 and our french horn students in grade 8.
Responsibilities:
-
Provide instruction and classroom management for students in Lower School and Upper School (Grade 4 – Grade 8).
-
Implement lesson plans provided by the Director of Instrumental Music, or deliver age-appropriate activities when plans are not available.
-
Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that supports students’ social-emotional well-being.
-
Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administrators.
-
Uphold the school’s mission and core values throughout all interactions with students and colleagues.
Qualifications:
-
Performance specialization in french horn or low brass instruments required with the ability to demonstrate frequently.
-
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Music Performance, Music Education or related field preferred.
-
Prior teaching experience, ideally in small group settings.
-
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
-
Ability to adapt quickly and teach across multiple grade levels.
Compensation:
