The Role
As an Overhead Crane Operator / Steel Material Handler, you are the starting point for our production line. You will be responsible for keeping the shop supplied and ensuring steel flows smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must be proficient in handling oversized steel (40'—60') and heavy loads up to 10 tons.
- Safely unload/load large structural steel beams from flatbed semi-trucks using an overhead crane.
- Load beams onto rollers and navigate them through the bead blaster to clean the beams.
Operate a metal saw to cut steel to precise lengths according to provided cut lists. Operate a forklift to move materials around the yard and stock smaller steel on racks.
Monitor and record steel inventory accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and SAFE operating environment at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
Equipment Experience: Prior experience operating overhead cranes is greatly preferred (though we will train the right candidate who has the mechanical aptitude and desire to learn).
Safety First: Must be comfortable and confident moving heavy objects safely with a high attention to detail.
Tape Measure Skills: The ability to accurately read a tape measure is required. Working Conditions: Must be able to work 60% indoors and 40% outdoors (work area is under a roof but exposed to outdoor temperatures).
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
