General Purpose:
The Engineer is responsible for part CAD drawings for sales, production, and R&D, and for product engineering and design. This includes the development of mold CAD drawings in coordination with our CAM software and CNC machining/molding departments, and assisting with Fab drawings. The engineer works closely with the GM, Operations Manager, and Toolmaker. Must display professional behaviors that promote a harmonious work environment, maintaining a respectful, courteous, and cooperative demeanor at all times with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
Primary Duties:
For the Sales department a
n
d customers
Develop part drawings
Assist with print reading, samples, and part design.
Update drawings and revisions for current document control.
For the Mold department
Analyze all specifications from customer quotes with the sales representative to help determine the best type of tool, mold materials, and part materials for customer.
Determine if the tooling should be done in-house or outsourced.
Ensure accurate mold specifications.
Design mold.
Interface with CNC and Mold departments on CNC programming.
Be present at the set-up of the newly designed molds for production, as needed.
Follow-up with sales/customer on the initial prototype and during first production run for quality assuran

Complete requisitions, obtain quotes and lead times for material and labor for molds.
Update old drawings and revisions for current document control.
For the Fab department
Assist Fab production with part drawings, layouts, jigs and fixture drawings.
Assist in CNC programming and layout as necessary.
Update old drawings and revisions for current document control.
Methods
Research and develop new methods of processing or tooling.
Determining faster and more efficient methods.
Improving part performance.
Finding ways to lower costs.
Quality Assurance
Understand and implement the Quality System Manual.
Work with customers to satisfy their quality expectation of our products
Respond to and complete customer compliance documents.
Problem-solve to find solutions to quality problems with DPI’s products and processes.
Work with personnel to correct quality problems.
Help implement method changes to improve quality of our products.
Track DPI’s quality standards through data entry, record-keeping, and resulting reports.
Manage quality processes such as RMAs, CARs, document control, and QC documents/inspections.
Conduct returns analysis annually and discuss trends with Operations Manager. Do this by product, customer, and type of complaint.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must have B.A. in Mechanical Engineering.
Prefer training in Solidworks “Essentials” for 3D part drawings, 3-view drawing/drafting skills, and basic mold design.
These trainings may be provided by DPI.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is completed in a quiet office. Employee is required to occasionally stand, sit, walk, use hands for typing, writing, handling papers and office equipment. Must be able to see at close distance, talk, and hear.
