JOB DESCRIPTION: Incumbent is responsible for enforcing New Mexico Building Code, International Building Codes. Americans with Disabilities Act, City Land Development Standards, and other related building codes and zoning ordinance. Checks construction plans to ensure compliance by property owners., developers and contractor. Issues building permits. Inspects construction work to ensure compliance of structures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) Five (5) years foreman level experience in building/construction trades or construction management. Possession of State CID general inspector certification -OR- must pass New Mexico CID General Inspector Exam with a 75% or better within 90days of hire Possession of national ICC certification(s) as a construction inspector in both the International Building Code and International Residential Code -OR- must pass national ICC certification exams within one year of hire 75% or betterValid Driver's License. Must meet City's insurability requirementsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited college or vocational school with an emphasis in building, planning, or closely related fieldExperience in construction supervisory level building trade or managementOTHER CONDITIONS: Upon offer of employment, candidate will have 90 days in which to pass the required State Construction Industries Division (CID) General Construction Inspector Exam and obtain State CID certification as a General Construction Inspector.
