ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES:
- Monitor pool and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all patrons.

Enforce all pool rules and regulations.

Perform lifeguard duties including water rescues, administering first aid, and performing CPR when necessary.

Maintain constant supervision of swimmers both in the water and on the pool deck.

Notify management of maintenance needs including chemical adjustments, equipment issues, or facility repairs.

Monitor inventory and notify the Pool Manager when supplies or equipment need to be reordered.

Assist with swim lessons as directed by the Head Lifeguard or Pool Manager.

Complete required documentation including incident reports, pool logs, and daily reports.

Wear required lifeguard equipment while on duty, including rescue tube, whistle, rescue mask, and any required personal protective equipment.

Help maintain a clean and safe facility including the pool, deck areas, grass areas, restrooms, office, and trash receptacles.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 16 years of age

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, or the ability to obtain certification prior to beginning employment (training may be provided and paid for by the City)

Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification prior to beginning employment (training may be provided and paid for by the City)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification

Customer service experience

High school diploma or equivalent
JOB FUNCTION: The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe swimming environment by monitoring pool activities, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies when necessary. This position also assists with maintaining a clean and safe pool facility and supporting pool operations as directed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to meet swimming requirements of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course.
