Pathways To Play Pediatric Therapy is a family-centered, multidisciplinary pediatric therapy practice located within We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym Asheville, an inclusive sensory gym serving children of all abilities. Together, we provide a collaborative, play-based environment where children can develop the skills they need to thrive.
Our team of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) work together to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care that promotes independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday life.

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our growing team in Asheville, NC. This on-site position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic sensory gym while delivering individualized, play-based physical therapy services to children from birth through adolescence.
The ideal candidate is passionate about pediatric therapy, values interdisciplinary collaboration, and enjoys creating engaging treatment sessions that help children build strength, coordination, balance, mobility, and independence.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate children with developmental delays, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, genetic diagnoses, and other pediatric concerns.
- Assess gross motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, posture, gait, functional mobility, and sensory-motor integration.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable, family-centered goals.
- Provide engaging, play-based physical therapy interventions using specialized sensory gym equipment and therapeutic activities.
- Improve functional mobility, motor planning, endurance, balance, coordination, and participation in daily activities.
- Educate and coach parents and caregivers on home exercise programs and strategies to support progress outside of therapy.
- Collaborate with Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, BCBAs, physicians, educators, and other providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain timely documentation including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in accordance with clinic policies and state licensing requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, case consultations, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families.
- Support occasional group programs and community events as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current North Carolina Physical Therapist license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Experience in pediatric physical therapy preferred; new graduates with strong pediatric clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of pediatric development, motor learning, neuromuscular conditions, orthopedic diagnoses, and evidence-based interventions.
- Experience providing family-centered and play-based therapy.
- Ability to safely utilize pediatric therapy and sensory gym equipment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary pediatric therapy team.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, inclusive, and culturally responsive care.
