Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC & Mechanical Systems)
Location: Greater Phoenix Area, AZ
Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 (Experience Dependent)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience with HVAC, piping, and large-scale mechanical systems and is comfortable managing projects ranging from tenant improvements and retrofits to complex ground-up builds. This individual will play a critical role in driving successful project outcomes while supporting a strong reputation for delivering on time and on budget.
Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in full-service project delivery including preconstruction planning, value engineering, design-assist/design-build, and fully managed construction services. The company serves a diverse portfolio of industries including healthcare, education, manufacturing, public works, and mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities

Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion

Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and clients

Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost controls

Oversee installation of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems

Review project drawings and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and constructability

Participate in preconstruction efforts including budgeting, procurement, and value engineering

Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation

Manage procurement of long-lead mechanical equipment and materials

Monitor project progress, installation quality, and overall performance
Qualifications
-
5+ years of experience in mechanical project management (HVAC/plumbing-focused)

Experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, and mechanical installations

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical specifications

Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred

Experience with design-build or design-assist project delivery methods

Background in complex environments such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities

Familiarity with preconstruction services including budgeting, constructability reviews, and lifecycle costing
