The Cottage is a full-service farm-to-table bistro, artisan coffeehouse, and lively bar in the heart of downtown Bothell. We feature local wines, craft cocktails, and live music in a warm, welcoming setting. We are seeking a Server Assistant with barista experience—or an eagerness to learn—to join our hospitality-driven team.
This is a guest-focused, hybrid role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in creating seamless, memorable experiences. While coffee knowledge is a plus, the primary focus of this position is supporting the front-of-house team and ensuring every guest feels taken care of from arrival to departure.
What You’ll Do
As a Server Assistant, you are an essential part of the guest experience. You will:
- Greet and seat guests with warmth and professionalism
- Support servers by running food and beverages, refilling water, and assisting with guest needs
- Bus, reset, and maintain tables quickly and thoroughly between seatings
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, restrooms, and entryway
- Assist guests with QR menus and guide them through offerings
- Manage takeout orders accurately and efficiently
- Monitor table flow and pacing to support both the kitchen and bar
- Communicate clearly with the team and help resolve guest concerns promptly
Barista Responsibilities (as needed):
- Prepare high-quality espresso and coffee beverages with attention to detail
- Execute proper techniques including grinding, dosing, tamping, extraction, and milk texturing
- Maintain and clean coffee equipment to ensure consistency and quality
- Adjust brewing parameters to dial in recipes and improve quality
- Expand your coffee knowledge through hands-on training and development opportunities
We are closely partnered with Quest Coffee Company, a direct-trade importer of single-origin coffees from sustainable, family-owned farms, and work with award-winning roasters—offering access to premium products and continued education.

- Passionate about hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences
- Able to be on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in a restaurant or café setting (server assistant, busser, barista, or host)
- Specialty coffee knowledge or barista experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems, QR ordering, or reservation platforms (e.g., RESY) is a plus
- Serving experience is helpful, but we will train the right person with a strong work ethic

Requirements
- Must be 16+ and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid Washington State Food Worker Card (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Valid Class 12 or 13 Server Permit (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
- Ability to commute to Bothell, WA
