Position Title: Educational Aide - English LearnersClassification: ClassifiedReports to: Principal &Director of Student ServicesLocation: DistrictReporting Unit Status: ClassifiedFLSA Status: Salary: OAPSE Salary Schedule - Aide ClassificationOverview: The English Language Learner (ELL) aide will be responsible for assisting second-language learners in acquiring English and evaluating students' progress in acquiring the language. Support must be provided at various language levels for speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing. The ELL aide should have excellent oral and written English skills and an understanding of cultural and language differences, and the diversity reflected in the ELL student population.Key Responsibilities: Assist Students in Academic Success: Work with individual students or groups to ensure they understand lesson concepts, complete assignments, and improve academic performance, with a particular focus on overcoming language barriers.Present Instructional Programs: Present portions of the instructional programs under the supervision of the classroom teacher and/or building principal.Modify Classroom Activities: Adapt classroom assignments, activities, and materials, under the teacher's direction, to meet the needs of ELL students.Provide Student Support: Tutor individual students facing language challenges, helping them succeed academically.Reinforce Learning Concepts: Assist in implementing lesson plans and instructional programs to reinforce learning, in both individual and group settings.Assess Student Needs: Make recommendations to the teacher regarding student needs or program adjustments to better support learning objectives.Monitor Student Progress: Communicate with teachers and other personnel to assess student progress.Maintain Healthy Learning Environment: Assist in creating and maintaining a supportive and healthy learning environment for all students.Participate in Meetings: Take part in planning meetings related to student services and organizational concerns.Clerical Duties: Perform filing, maintain student records, and complete other clerical tasks as needed.Staff Development: Participate in staff development activities to improve instructional practices and professional growth.Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and program information.Execute additional tasks and leadership duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.Key Qualifications: High School Diploma, Associate's Degree preferredAppropriate State of Ohio Educational Aide certificateSuch alternatives to the above as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
