American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with strong Ortho/Neuro and trauma surgical background for a hospital OR position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL.

Works in a 15-bed OR unit within a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
-
Primary assignment is on the Ortho/Neuro team, with backup coverage for ENT and Vascular teams
-
Patient population is primarily adult with minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic
-
1:1 patient ratio
-
Cerner EMR in use
-
Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
-
Robotic platforms in use include Mazor and DaVinci XI
-
Shift is 4x10-hour days, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, with additional shift times of 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 12:30 PM–11:00 PM, and 6:30 AM–7:00 PM based on department needs

Call schedule requires one day per week (3:00 PM–7:00 AM) and one weekend per month (Friday 3:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM) for all service lines except Open Heart

Weekend rotation is on-call

No floating required

Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required

Strong trauma OR experience required (burns excluded)

Required specialty experience includes Neuro, General, Vascular (including endovascular), ENT, Ortho spine, Gynecology, Urology, Robotics (General and Neuro), Plastics, breast, and ophthalmology

Robotic experience preferred, particularly with Mazor and DaVinci XI platforms

Surgical Tech certification preferred but not required

AL state license required if applicable

Must be available for call coverage and holiday rotation

Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

First-time travelers will be considered with a minimum of 2 years of experience

Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler

Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during orientation
-
Holiday coverage is expected each contract
-
Time off requests must be approved by the manager
-
Green scrubs are required and will be provided
-
OR support staff includes an ORA, desk assistant, some first assists, a charge nurse, and team leaders for each service line
-
Interview and manager approval are required prior to placement
-
A reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months is required for consideration

SSN, DOB (day and month), and copies of certifications are required for consideration
