SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing management and supervisory support of monitoring, treatment, and medications as prescribed by the individual's health care professional, to ensure the best possible health of the individuals in our care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Interview, hire, evaluate employee performance and implement discipline of departmental staff members.

Review, correct, approve and submit timesheets weekly to the business office.

Assign work duties and make work schedules for all health services staff to assure adequate staff coverage. Provide direct supervision of licensed nursing staff.

Monitor (directly or through subordinates) individual’s physical condition by personal visits/exams, review of records, data and/or consultation with medical professionals.

Coordinate and monitor all medications to assure compliance of all regulatory and agency requirements.

Implement, monitor and maintain QA measures and adhere to mandated state and federal regulations, life safety code.

Coordinate schedules and staffing to ensure after hour and weekend availability of health services staff, either directly or through subordinates.

Work as direct care RN as needed.

Provide, directly or through subordinates, education on the medication administration process and health screenings for staff.

Provide, directly or through subordinates leveling of GERs.

Ensure all mandated state and federal regulations are followed for admission and discharge of people supported in ICF sites. Conduct meet and greets to establish a proper fit for the site being considered.

Coordinate in-service and continuing education training programs relating to agency concerns.

Submit requested information in oral or written form to the VP of Quality Assurance.

Coordinate and document purchase of nursing supplies and durable medical equipment.

Update the nursing protocol manual as needed.

Adhere to rules and principles of confidentiality regarding residents according to HIPAA standards.
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises the RN’s, LPN’s, COTA, Restorative Aide, Medical Support Professionals, consulting pharmacist, consulting OT, consulting PT, consulting Dietician.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing from an accredited nursing school and at least 2 years of work experience in a supervisory setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Registered Nurse licensure through the ND Board of Nursing or is able to apply and receive reciprocity from another state as a licensed RN with an unencumbered license. DD Certification within 12 months of hire.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence using correct spelling, form and content. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all measure, using whole numbers, common factions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with many abstract and concrete variables.
