Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join the Store Associate Apps team at Abercrombie & Fitch. This team builds and supports the Android applications used by store associates across Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister locations worldwide.
As a Senior Android Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical mobile applications that power store operations, associate productivity, and customer experiences. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, Architects, and backend engineers to deliver scalable, reliable, and intuitive solutions while helping drive the technical direction of the platform.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, modernizing mobile platforms, mentoring others, and building applications that have a measurable impact on store operations.
Design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications that support in-store associate experiences and operational workflows.
Contribute across the full software lifecycle including discovery, architecture, development, testing, release, monitoring, and ongoing support.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Store Operations, and Engineering partners to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Partner with backend, iOS, web, and enterprise teams to deliver cohesive cross-platform experiences.
Support initiatives focused on offline resiliency, device management, payments, fulfillment, and associate productivity.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, system design, and debugging techniques.
Experience supporting applications used in retail, store operations, fulfillment, or supply chain environments.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
Experience working with NFC, barcode scanning, payment systems, handheld devices, or ruggedized Android hardware.
Familiarity with JUnit, Mockito, Espresso, Compose Testing, and related Android testing frameworks.
