Job Summary
Genesis Behavioral Hospital is looking for a Full time Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN) at our Outpatient location in Church Point. The Licensed Practical Nurse’s (LPN) primary role is to provide nursing care for patients who are experiencing common, well-defined health problems. The LPN functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, and utilizes the nursing process in implementation of patient’s care. Those services are performed under the supervision of a registered nurse and utilize standardized procedures with predictable outcomes.The LPN adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the facility’s policies and procedures as well as external regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities and Duties
Some of the responsibilities and duties of the LPN are as follows but are not limited to:
- Assists with reassessing patients according to assignments, need, and unit protocol and/or hospital policy under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Effectively communicates pertinent assessment findings with other health care members.
- Accurately and thoroughly documents all findings in the patient record.
- Identifies expected outcomes based on assessment data.
- Performs nursing procedures/treatments as prescribed by physician/LIP
- Performs vital signs/measurement on patients as ordered and as needed based on nursing judgment, and documents same in the medical record.
- Performs patient education group and documents same in medical record.
- Provides for comfort and assistance in the performance of ADLs.
- Promotes the patient’s ability to cope, adapt, and/or solve situations related to illness and/or stressors.
- Provides supportive, age appropriate communication and culturally acceptable interventions and documents special needs.
- Administers medications utilizing established safety procedures/standards.
- Ensures patients are effectively assessed prior to and after medication administration.
- Accurately communicates/documents medication doses prescribed.
- Provides patient education on 100% of medication administered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications, calculations, and administering techniques.
- Transcribes orders accurately and performs chart audits of transcription accurately and according to facility guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active Louisiana license
Preferred experience in a psychiatric setting but not required.
