GENERAL DUTIES:
Operate van under all types of weather conditions including, but not limited to sun, fog, rain, sleet, hail, snow, and ice. Transport consumers and other authorized persons "to and from" day program/work routes. Complete all transportation routes while adhering to commonly established road safety standards and laws relevant to the State of California.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Successfully complete van driver training program and courses as prescribed by the state law requirements.
- Operate the van in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the van and its special equipment.
- Maintain orderly conduct of passengers. Report unsafe acts or conditions.
- Operate the van in accordance with the laws of the State of California and the policies of HQ Transportation, LLC
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required by the HQ Transportation, LLC system.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and public.
- Complete legible, accurate and required reports in the prescribed manner and on a timely basis.
- Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the van and during loading and unloading.
- Keep van clean daily which includes, removing items left by consumers, sweeping and fueling, to the extent prescribed by HQ Transportation, LLC.
- Report needed repairs.
- Perform other duties as directed by management of HQ Transportation, LLC.
- Maintain timely routes and schedules.
- Report any hazards along the existing route to the appropriate management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- The minimum age to qualify as a van driver is eighteen (18) years of age.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid California Class C Driver's License
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Possess or be able to obtain VDDP (Vehicle for Developmentally Disabled Persons) clearance
- Must pass a physical examination by a licensed Doctor of Medicine prior to the date of employment in accordance with the approved examination (DL Form 0514).
- Good moral character.
- Minimum of two years driving experience.
- No addiction to the use of intoxicating liquor, narcotic drugs or recreational drugs. Successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
- Mental and emotional stability, which ensures the normal driving competency and efficiency.
- Appearance and personality compatible with the requirements of business operations of HQ Transportation, LLC
- Prefer candidates with prior experience working with the disabled.
