CLASS TITLE: Motor Equipment Operator TITLE #: 1430
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves a variety of recurring manual duties in conjunction with the safe and economical operation of moderately complex motor vehicle equipment.
The work is carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures under direct supervision.
Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Operates a motor vehicle in connection with snow removal, and/or the transportation of stone, gravel and/or other supplies and equipment;
Operates a street sweeper, avac-all and tractor/truck with trailer, snow loader, bulldozer, concrete mixer, stone crusher or other attached equipment;
Performs manual labor such as loading, unloading, digging and related activities;
Performs minor repairs on motor equipment and attachments;
Maintains motor equipment and attachments in a clean and serviceable condition;
Completes corresponding motor equipment service records and documents.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of motor equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in a class appropriate to the requirements of the Appointing Authority.
When assigned to the Towns of New Windsor and Newburgh: when assigned to bucket truck, will also perform all duties in bucket such as trimming and removing tree branches and other related duties.
