tnConnect Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, reconciliation, payment processing, and operational support functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the credit union's financial records. This position supports daily accounting operations, payment systems, member transactions, and regulatory compliance while providing exceptional internal and external member service.

What You'll Do
- Perform daily balancing and reconciliation of the Credit Union's general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare and post accounting entries, settlement reports, and reconciliations for Shared Branching, Message Pay, ID Safe, and other payment networks and third-party service providers.
- Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense records, including related accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Administer the accounts payable function, including processing invoices, maintaining vendor records, issuing payments, and recording related general ledger transactions.
- Support Asset/Liability Management (ALM) processes and assist with month-end financial reporting and closing activities.
- Ensure assigned accounting and operational activities comply with Credit Union policies, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and internal control standards.
- Research, resolve, and document accounting and operational discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, external and internal audits, and other accounting or operational projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For

- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Three or more years of credit union or financial institution experience preferred.
- Previous accounting or bookkeeping in a financial institution is preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to protect confidential information, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
