Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, brake repairs, wheel alignments, and HVAC servicing to ensure equipment longevity.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, forklifts, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently during repair or testing procedures.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues across various vehicle types like tractor-trailers and farm machinery.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection logs, and repair documentation to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements.
- Assist in assembly or disassembly of large equipment components during major repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership experience preferred; strong background in heavy truck repair is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and diagnostic software for automotive diagnostics.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or similar machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to perform heavy lifting safely is required.
- Valid Class A CDL license or equivalent certification is preferred; relevant certifications in heavy equipment operation are advantageous.
