Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This role will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting month-end close, and providing financial insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze standard costs, including labor, material, and overhead rates.
- Perform inventory accounting, including reconciliations, cycle count analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Analyze manufacturing variances, including purchase price, labor, material usage, and production variances.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounting as part of the month-end close process.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Partner with manufacturing and operations leadership to analyze production costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods inventory.
- Support annual standard cost updates and physical inventory counts.
- Prepare cost and margin analyses by product line and manufacturing operation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required financial documentation and analysis.
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen cost controls and reporting accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
- Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operations.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
