VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center is a high volume, AAHA accredited, referral and critical care hospital located in West Los Angeles. We are currently we are looking for both ER and ICU Technicians to join our team.
A pay differential is applied to all "overnight" hours worked, with an additional differential applied to our full-time overnight team members.
Compensation for this position is dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.
As one of LA's leading 24-hour specialty animal care centers for over 30 years now, ASEC is proud to support six specialties and roughly 200 staff members on our team. As a teaching hospital we host externs, interns, and residents every year. Our ECC/ICU department is equipped to provide 24/7 care to incoming critical and non-critical emergencies, transfers from our referring veterinarians, and hospitalized patients from our own specialty services.
Currently seeking applicants for our Doctor's Assistant position on our ECC/ICU Department. Applicants with Leadership Experience will be considered for our available leadership roles.
Doctor's Assistants have the opportunity to be a part of providing critical care services and excellent customer service while working alongside our veterinarians within a great learning environment. We are seeking highly organized individuals with strong multi-tasking and customer service skills. This position involves heavy communication with doctors, technicians, front office, our client liaison, and the clients. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, and experience with computers and multi-line phone system is required. Current experience (within the last 2 years) in veterinary medicine, especially in emergency and/or specialty medicine is a huge plus!
We are also interested in expanding our Leadership Team! Applicants who qualify may be considered for a Lead or Supervisor position.
Obtain initial patient histories from the client
Transcribe physical exam findings, lab results, imaging reports, etc. into patient medical records
Create financial estimates
Client communication and education
Performing client/patient follow-up phone calls
Create and process prescription refills
Maintain medical records
Review discharge instructions with clients
Complete lab submission forms
