Job description:
Looking for a tech or assistant for a homey single vet general practice clinic in West Madison. Currently our staff from the other clinic is floating over to help cover the new facility, but it's a small neighborhood clinic and clients would prefer someone they can get to know that's there consistently and we're looking for someone that's interested in that vibe.
Overview:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, normal 8-hour day with normal lunch and breaks.
- Digital x-rays, dental x-rays, in house labs and bloodwork, routine surgeries and some limited ortho.
- No nights. No on-call. We would love to expand into weekends eventually, but not now — and it wouldn't land on one person if we did.
- Assistant pay starts around $37,500. Salaried, not hourly so that if the day is light you don't have to hang out with me just to pay rent.
- We'll pay for tech school for the right long-term fit.

- George currently manages the clinic, but I would love to fire myself at some point so if you're interested in that side of things, I'm happy to train you onto it
About us:
Muir Field is a small 21 year old neighborhood clinic with one vet. Precision Veterinary is an 8 year old rescue & affordable care clinic. We partner with more than 150 rescues and shelters in Southern Wisconsin and have covered the care behind tens of thousands of adoptions. Precision exists to provide access to care prior to adoption and Muir Field to continue to provide it for the rest of their lives.
What the work is like:
There isn't much direct oversight. People just do what needs doing. So, we hire pretty selectively for character — if you don't take care of something, somebody else has to and will. That only works if everyone gets along, so we hire for culture fit as much as skills and experience.
Given that Muir Field is pretty autonomous, clinical background is a bit of a must here since there won't be anyone else you can shadow to learn from on-site besides the vet. However, if you do not have that kind of background, we do occasionally have openings at Precision and can work with the right person to develop skills.
While Muir Field is a separate location and a smaller group, the larger team still has a lot of contact and interaction since it's only a few miles away though, so there is a larger culture to the place.
