Position Title: Lunch Custodian
Reports To: Facilities Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School is seeking a dependable, service-oriented Part-Time Lunch Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, church members, and visitors during the school lunch period. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dining areas, assisting with lunchroom setup and breakdown, and supporting the overall cleanliness of school and church facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lunchroom Operations
- Set up cafeteria tables, chairs, and serving areas as needed
- Prep and maintain salad bars, condiment stations, and milk coolers
- Monitor dining areas during lunch periods to maintain cleanliness and safety
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces after the lunch service
- Clean floors using auto floor scrubber throughout kitchen and cafeteria space after the lunch service
- Remove trash and recycling to the dumpster and replace liners as needed
- Breakdown cafeteria tables, chairs, and serving areas and set up spaces for afternoon and evening activities
Custodial Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of hallways, restrooms, entryways, and common areas during assigned hours
- Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning needs
- Operate basic custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely
- Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and sanitation products
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or facility issues to the Facilities Manager
Safety and Professional Conduct
- Follow all school, church, and workplace safety policies
- Maintain a professional, positive, and Christian attitude when interacting with students, staff, parents, church members, and visitors
- Support the mission and values of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Ability to interact respectfully with students, staff, parents, church members, and visitors
- Must pass any required background screening
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach frequently
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning products
Work Schedule
- Part-time position – 25 to 29 hours expected weekly
- Expected daily work hours are 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Additional hours may be available for special events, school activities, or facility needs
Work Environment
- This position requires indoor and outdoor work
- Faith based setting
Compensation
· $15 - $18 per hour
o Final rate to be determined based upon experience and qualifications
