Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, across designated routes while complying with all FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure accurate delivery routes and timely arrivals.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, handling logistics cargo with care—especially hazardous or dangerous goods—and ensuring proper documentation.
- Deliver freight efficiently along route driving schedules, maintaining communication with dispatch for updates or route adjustments.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo manifests in compliance with federal regulations.
- Handle automobile transportation tasks when required, including securing vehicles for transport or delivery.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat), and the handling of dangerous goods is highly desirable.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading.
- Experience navigating GPS navigation systems and managing over-the-road (OTR) driving routes efficiently.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to truck driving.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving freight handling, route driving, and customer service is preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of trucks such as flatbed or tanker trailers when necessary.
