Position Summary
Academy at the Lakes is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This position will play a key role supporting the Controller in all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and business office operations. The position will also provide ad hoc support to the Chief Financial Officer.
The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative educational environment. This role offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure to finance operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting systems preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Prepare journal entries and perform monthly account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial schedules and reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with annual audit support
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Support the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements and analyses
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Work with the CFO on ad hoc financial, operational, and strategic projects
- Prepare reports and analysis to support decision-making
Business Office Operations
- Support auxiliary operations and other school-related financial activities as needed
- Collaborate with departments across the school to ensure efficient financial processes
- Participate in continuous improvement of accounting systems and workflows
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
