Title: Shipping Manager Department: Shipping
Reports To: VP Classification: Non-Exempt
Summary: This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the shipping function. Provides supervision to shipping and warehouse staff. Responsible for developing, training, disciplining and evaluating.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experienced in supervising others. Communicates, trains, mentors, manages performance on a continuous basis.
- Provide leadership, training and direction to all assigned personnel in the CNC department.
- Assign work; provide tools and personal protective equipment to employees.
- Offer assistance and guidance to employees as needed on work-related issues.
- Weigh and prepare all completed production for shipment using skids, shrink wrap, etc. to ensure integrity of product during shipment.
- Create work schedule to ensure timely product delivery to customers.
- Prepare and arrange for shipment all products for external operations, heat-treating, plating, coating, etc.
- Prepare all shipping paperwork including packing list, labels, bills of lading, etc. as well as documentation related to interstate and international shipments.
- Check outgoing product against shipping orders; record and report discrepancies.
- Arrange for shipment as specified by customer or “best way”.
- Review and ensure compliance with state, federal and international shipping requirements
- Check equipment to ensure proper use for efficiency and safety; perform routine maintenance.
- Order and maintain inventory for departmental tools, supplies, etc.
- Act as role model to employees providing honest, positive guidance while supporting company policies.
- Keep work area neat and orderly.
- Receives, understands and follows all written and oral instruction.
- Communicate all concerns and other work-related issues to supervisor.
- Complete all paperwork associated with position.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.
- Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor.
Skills, Education & Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a management role, preferably in a warehouse or shipping environment.
- Ability to effectively convey written and or verbal instruction to staff.
- Knowledge of all department machines and equipment.
- Knowledge of all department processes and documentation.
- Proficient use of forklift, hoist and crane equipment.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Stamina to work all scheduled hours.
- 20/40 vision with or without correction
- Use of hearing 100% of the workday
- Use of hands 100% of the workday
- Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, or crawl 50% of the workday.
- Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to operate all shipping and receiving equipment.
- Ability to work in shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
