Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Combo Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding and fabrication tasks on marine structures and components. Your expertise in multiple welding techniques and mechanical fabrication will ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained throughout all projects. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex marine construction projects in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) on marine metal components following blueprints and schematics
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and shop math to accurately fabricate and assemble metal structures
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape sheet metal and ductwork
- Operate rigging equipment and forklifts safely for material handling and assembly tasks
- Measure materials with calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure proper fit and alignment
- Interpret ASME codes & standards as well as AWS (American Welding Society) standards for welding procedures and quality assurance
- Conduct pipe threading, soldering, machining, and assembly of fabricated parts in accordance with project specifications
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a focus on marine or heavy industrial fabrication projects
- Demonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW welding techniques across various metals including sheet metal
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical schematics for fabrication purposes
- Hands-on experience with shop math, blueprint interpretation, mechanical fabrication processes, and metalworking tools
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to pressure vessels or piping systems is preferred
- Experience operating rigging gear, forklifts, plasma cutters, press brakes, and machining equipment is highly desirable
- Familiarity with construction safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in industrial settings
