Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Residential Care Home (4-Bedroom Home Setting) Schedule: Part-Time / Full-Time (Flexible; evenings, overnights, weekends required) Reports To: Administrator
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and supervision to individuals (Male Candidates Only) with developmental disabilities in a structured, in-home residential setting. This role includes hands-on assistance with personal care, behavioral support, and maintaining the daily operations, cleanliness, and organization of the home.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Care & Support
- Provide continuous supervision to ensure client safety
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing and personal hygiene
- Diaper changing/incontinence care
- Dressing and grooming
- Toileting support and prompts
- Support daily routines, structure, and engagement
- Follow behavior plans and provide redirection as needed
Household & Daily Operations
- Maintain the cleanliness of all areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas
- Complete daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and organizing
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms (toilets, sinks, tubs, floors)
- Clean kitchen areas including dishes, counters, and floors
- Ensure rooms are cleaned and reset daily
Food & Safety Compliance
- Check and monitor:
- Food expiration dates
- Refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- House temperature
- Water temperature
- Assist with meal preparation and portioning
- Ensure proper food labeling, storage, and rotation
Laundry & Inventory
- Collect, wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry
- Change linens as scheduled
- Maintain organization of supply areas
- Assist with inventory and grocery checklist
Documentation & Technology
- Complete daily logs, task tracking, and required documentation
- Document behaviors, incidents, and observations accurately
- Use required apps for scheduling, communication, and documentation
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure client devices are charged as needed
- Participate in shift communication and staff debriefs
- Complete assigned deep cleaning tasks
- Follow all house routines and assigned duties
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral support preferred
- Must be comfortable providing hands-on personal care, including diaper changes and bathing
- Ability to stay organized and follow structured routines
- Tech-savvy and able to use mobile apps
- Experience with Homebase or Alchemy preferred
- Must pass background clearance
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Important
This position requires hands-on care and active participation throughout the shift. Staff must be comfortable providing personal hygiene care, completing household responsibilities, and maintaining a structured and safe environment.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
