The National Archives Foundation seeks a creative Digital Content Manager to join its Marketing & Communications team. This role is responsible for managing the Foundation’s digital presence and developing compelling visual content that advances the Foundation’s mission, engages diverse audiences, and supports fundraising, membership, public programs, and institutional partnerships.
The Digital Content Manager oversees the Foundation’s website, social media channels, digital communications, and visual assets while collaborating across departments to ensure consistent messaging and brand identity. This position blends strategy, creative design, and technical coordination to deliver engaging digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Content Management
Manage the Foundation’s digital marketing channels to effectively communicate organizational messaging to a variety of audiences, including donors, members, eStore customers, educators, partners, and the general public.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling web, email, and social media content that reflects the Foundation’s mission and brand.
Website Management
Serve as the primary manager of the Foundation’s website, ensuring content is accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with brand standards.
Develop a website maintenance plan and coordinate website updates across the communications team including page creation, copy updates, event listings, and landing pages.
Work closely with external web development contractors to manage the website’s technical infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and facilitate backend maintenance.
Recommend improvements to user experience, navigation, and website performance based on analytics and organizational goals.
Social Media & Multimedia
Create engaging content for the Foundation’s social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
Produce and edit short-form videos and multimedia content to support campaigns, exhibitions, events, and organizational storytelling.
Monitor social media trends and platform best practices to increase engagement and audience growth.
Help manage the Foundation’s YouTube page, assisting with program livestreams and other video needs as they arise.
Graphic Design & Creative Production
Design digital and print marketing materials, including invitations, museum rack cards, event collateral, advertisements, presentations, email graphics, and promotional materials.
Ensure all creative assets maintain a consistent visual identity and adhere to Foundation brand guidelines.
Prepare files for both digital distribution and print production.
Work with outside graphic designers on visual projects as assigned.
Analytics & Performance
Track and report on website, email, and social media performance using analytics tools.
Provide recommendations for improving engagement, reach, and user experience based on performance data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3–5 years of experience in digital marketing, content management, communications, or a related role.
Experience managing websites using a content management system (CMS) and coordinating with web developers or technical vendors.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Canva. Experience with CSS and HTML is a plus.
Experience creating graphics for both print and digital communications.
Experience producing and editing vertical video content for social media platforms.
Experience in a nonprofit, museum, cultural institution, or membership organization is preferred.
