Position: Mechanic

Pay: Starting at $22 - $30 per hour

Position Summary:
Strain Electric Co. is looking for a mechanic that can perform general fleet maintenance and assist the shop foreman with larger repair projects. This position reports directly to the shop Foreman. The daily work would consist of: Fleet oil changes, basic brake repair/replacements on trucks and trailers, wiring and lighting repairs, cleaning, greasing, and basic PM services on heavy equipment – excavators, loaders, and skid steers. Able to keep basic preventative maintenance records of services performed and turn in daily to the shop foreman. This position has the potential to have a flexible schedule.
Mechanic Responsibilities
- Able to perform general PM services on fleet vehicles and equipment
- Inspect drivelines, grease all vehicle points
- Inspecting vehicle systems, suspensions, steering, and exhaust
- Repair brakes and rotors on fleet vehicles, equipment, and trailers
- Test driving vehicles after work has been completed to ensure performance and safety
- Perform routine maintenance as needed on smaller engine equipment. (Air compressors, pumps, and smaller plate compactors.)
- Maintain records of work to be completed and turn in timely to shop foreman
- Other duties as assigned by shop foreman – keep work area clean
- Submit and able to pass drug screen and background investigation
Mechanic Qualifications
- 2 - 4 years’ experience as a mechanic with a strong background in fleet preventative maintenance. Knowledge of engines and diagnostic equipment a plus
- Knowledge of JPRO and Cummins software a plus
- Experience working on air brake and hydraulic braking systems
- Welding capabilities desired but not required
- Valid CDL class A or B with air brakes preferred
- Must provide own basic tools; specialty tools will be provided
- Self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, detailed oriented, and the ability to keep workspace clean and safe
