Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Pool Repair Technician for a year around full-time position. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of residential and commercial pools and spas. This includes addressing issues with pumps, filters, heaters, plumbing, electrical systems, automation, sanitation systems, and other related equipment. This position requires strong technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety standards and company quality procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Accurately diagnose and identify the root cause of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues in pools and spas.
- Repairs and Maintenance: Perform necessary repairs and maintenance on pool and spa equipment, including pumps, motors, filters, heaters, automation systems, lights, and cleaning systems.
- Plumbing and Electrical: Repair and replace PVC and other plumbing components. Possess a working knowledge of 110V and 220V electrical systems related to pool and spa operations.
- Water Chemistry: This position is primarily repair and diagnostic focused. Basic understanding of overall pool operation and water chemistry is required.
- Equipment Installation: Install new pool and spa equipment and accessories according to manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
- Air Leak Detection: Effectively find and diagnose above ground only plumbing leak issues associated with faulty valves, plumbing, or joints and repair as needed.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, explaining technical issues, repair options, and providing maintenance advice. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Documentation: Complete accurate service reports, detailing the work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
- Vehicle and Inventory: Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, ensuring it is stocked with the provided necessary tools and equipment. Manage inventory levels and report any shortages.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in pool and spa maintenance and repair. Continued industry training is provided across all brands.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pool repair technician.
- Strong technical knowledge of pool and spa systems, including mechanics, plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Proficiency in water chemistry understanding.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex equipment issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50+ pounds) and work in various weather conditions.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Portable Spa Trade Skill can be a learned trade if not known or no exposure to.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) or other relevant industry certifications (e.g., CST).
- Experience with specific pool and spa equipment brands or automation systems.
- Knowledge of additional trades such as plumbing, electrical, low voltage systems relevant to pool and spa environments.
- Substitutions for the above: Car Audio installers, Low Voltage Alarm and Security Camera installers, low level lighting, apprenticeships from gas electrical plumbing trades.
