Job Overview
Novomet USA is seeking a Workshop Technician to join our team in Katy, Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing, inspecting, maintaining, and preparing downhole equipment such as pumps and motors. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Inspection & Testing:
- Check and test downhole equipment (pumps, motors, etc.) before shipping, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Perform DIFA (Disassembly, Inspection, and Failure Analysis) under supervision during training and independently afterward.
- Workshop Maintenance & Inventory Control:
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop, test benches, and tools.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, inspecting, labeling, and recording shipments.
- Conduct inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy.
- Logistics & Reporting:
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment and ensure proper documentation.
- Complete and maintain daily reports on equipment testing and inspections.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Follow all company procedures, QHSE requirements, and HSE policies.
- Ensure safe operation of industrial forklifts and other machinery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience:
- 1+ years of experience as a Workshop Technician in an ESP (Electrical Submersible Pumps) Service Center preferred.
- Prior work in an industrial or workshop environment is advantageous.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency with hand tools, hydraulic and electrical machinery.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
- Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations and safely operate industrial equipment, including forklifts.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs., push/pull, reach, squat, kneel, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday. Physical demands exceed those typically associated with medium-duty work.
- Requires advanced manual dexterity, fine and gross motor coordination, and the ability to safely perform repetitive assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, testing, inspection, repair, and equipment handling activities using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working in a primarily non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to shop conditions including noise, dust, wind, odors, oil-based products, and temperature variations.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, and respiratory protection, hard hat, and safety footwear while working in the shop environment or at customer job sites.
- Willing and able to work overtime, be on call, and respond to operational requirements as needed.

- Experience with inventory control, material handling, and warehouse operations preferred.
- Basic computer skills and experience using ERP systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement principles preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Work Schedule
- Full-time position, minimum 40 hours per week.
- Typical schedule Monday through Friday.
- Hours may vary based on operational and customer requirements
