A faculty member in the NYU Department of Sociology is seeking a research scientist to support quantitative research on technology, administrative burden and access to means-tested programs. Project uses large administrative datasets and event-history methods to study how families move through program enrollment and where they encounter friction. The RA will work closely with the PI on data management, analysis, and the production of results for academic papers.
Responsibilities
- Clean, manage, and document large administrative and survey datasets.
- Construct analytic samples and variables; maintain reproducible, well-commented code.
- Run descriptive and multivariate analyses, including survival / event-history models (Cox, accelerated failure-time).
- Produce publication-quality tables and figures.
- Contribute to data-structure diagnostics and short analytic memos, and participate in analytic decisions.
- Maintain strict data confidentiality and follow all IRB and data-use requirements.
